Duct Sealing

Improvements from Duct Sealing

Comfort
Sealing and insulating ducts can help with common comfort problems, such as rooms that are too hot in the summer or too cold in the winter.
Air Quality
Fumes from household and garden chemicals, insulation particles, and dust can enter your duct system, aggravating asthma and allergy problems. Sealing ducts can help improve indoor air quality by reducing the risk of pollutants entering ducts and circulating through your home.
Satefy
During normal operation, gas appliances such as water heaters, clothes dryers, and furnaces release combustion gases through their ventilation systems. Leaky ductwork in your heating and cooling system may cause “backdrafting,” where these gases are drawn back into the living space, rather than expelled to the outdoors. Sealing leaks can minimize this risk.
Save energy and Save Money and Save Environment
Leaky ducts can reduce heating and cooling system efficiency by as much as 20 %. This wil reduce the amount of energy necessary to comfortably heat or cool your home, you can reduce the amount of air pollution generated.

Duct Sealing
Duct sealing is the process of sealing all of the connections between the HVAC unit, the duct work, and the register vents in the home. Most homes that were built before 2005 that we inspect all have some degree of air leakage in their ductwork. For these homes an estimated 15% - 35% of the air cooled by the HVAC unit is being leaked directly into the attic space. Sealing the duct work ensures that none of the conditioned air is being blown into the attic and no harmful irritants and allergens enter into the ductwork. For most homes sealing the ductwork is the first and best step in moving forward to improving the energy efficiency of the home. Home owners can expect to save 20% - 40% on there heating and cooling costs depending on the degree of duct work air leakage. The majority of home owners see a “return on investment” for sealing their ductwork of only less than one year, in addition to the ability to cool and heat the house in less time.
